Why ride our trails?
Explore the Wairarapa Five Towns Trail Network
The Wairarapa Five Towns Trail Network is an exciting new project taking shape across our region - with a long-term vision to create 200km of connected recreational trails to link Featherston, Martinborough, Greytown, Carterton and Masterton. While the full network is still in development - with four trails available so far, we’re steadily building the foundations of what will become a signature Wairarapa experience - inviting visitors and locals alike to discover, explore and fall in love with our region, one trail at a time.
These early trails already offer inviting opportunities for walkers, cyclists and runners of all ages to explore local landscapes, enjoy fresh air, and connect with the stories and culture of our place. As new sections open, the network will grow into a series of safe, welcoming pathways through vineyards, river valleys, farmland and our historic townships.
As one of Lonely Planet’s “Best in Travel 2026” regions, Wairarapa is renowned for its food, wine and stargazing, and our trails will complement this beautifully. Enjoy an active day out, then continue your adventure under the stunning Wairarapa International Dark Sky Reserve, a perfect pairing of day-and-night magic.
